Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

One cannot imagine sexual health without a condom. It is a simple yet effective method to avoid unwanted pregnancy and prevent transferring of sexually transmitted diseases. Any sexually active person should keep condoms with them all the time. Who knows when they might need it.

Storing condoms is also essential for their proper functioning with all its utilities. A condom is made of latex that gets brittle and stiff after a considerable time. Such a condom is more likely to crack and its basic purpose is dismissed. A long stored condom may tear during its usage and can cause a sense of panic during the moments of ultimate pleasure.

So, storing a condom properly becomes an inevitable thing for those who are sexually active and want to play safe. First, never keep your condom in your wallet. Constant body heat can weaken the latex integrity making it of no use after a prolonged exposure. Excessive low temperatures can also damage the condoms, so, the refrigerator too, is not a good idea to store your condoms. A perfect temperature for storing them is 68°F to 77°F. A bathroom drawer or your nightstand seems to be best places to store them.

Lastly, always keep a record of your condoms’ expiry dates. By any means, do not used an about to expire/expired condom. Last moment checking for an expiry date may turn the mood off and you would not to miss such a chance.
